This week Frankfurt have hosted their annual motor show. Most of the main manufacturers took the show as an opportunity to show off their up and coming models, concept cars and electric cars. Indeed there were some very interesting models from new ground breaking designs to futuristic MPV’s. However it was Citroen’s contribution that interested me the most.
I have always been a fan of the Citroen van. I think it was because my father was French and as such he always talked about how great Citroen were and the the German automotive industry had nothing on the French. I don’t necessarily think that is true but when it came to buying my first car, Citroen was just a natural choice. And it still is, indeed I have just ordered a new Citroen C4 in Kent.
The new Citroen concept car is perhaps not the type of vehicle I can imagine myself driving within the next few years. However, it is different, original and should it go into production I can imagine there would be a sufficient demand.
The new vehicle is called the Citroen Tubik and is a nine seater MPV. The exterior of this vehicle is eye-catching to say the least. Its not conventional or elegant but that is the beauty of this car.
At the Frankfurt show there have been a few manufacturers who have created the “lounge experience” in the rear of the car. All the seats can be moved, flipped or folded offering versatility for your journey. I just hope they are going to include a coffee machine and mini bar like the new Peugeot offering.
I like the idea of making the new MPV’s into an environment that people really do like to sit in.
