It’s a well known fact that children get restless when they have nothing to do, and even when you have all manner of things around the house to keep them occupied they still get bored and start trouble around every corner. When that happens, then you know it is time to get everyone out of the house for a while and get them to do something fun that breaks the regular weekend routine that the family has. It’s a great way to give the house a break, and perhaps even get someone in to clean while the place is empty. Your kids will definitely appreciate the chance to get out the house for a change, and you may even end up having to do it often due to popular demand.
There are a few short rules or guidelines that you will need to stick to if you are going to make it a successful breakaway for everyone. Weekend Getaways should be about fun and doing something a little different. if you are taking your kids somewhere to do something fun, then you have to make sure that they will actually enjoy what you have planned for them. Ideally, you want to find a place that is relatively close by, because trekking the whole family around can get quite expensive. That means you invariably have to drive somewhere and having everyone in the car means that once again things can get a little restless, so you’ll have to make sure the place you are going to is close by. Anything more than two or three hours in a car and you would be pushing your luck with all of them. If you are fortunate enough to have older kids in then at least you can travel a little further because they are more disciplined and can behave themselves a lot better over longer distances.
