Buying a car can be a daunting task. There are many different manufacturers of cars, and even more models made by said manufacturers. There's also the option of buying used, new, or a pre-owned car that has been certified by some type of official.
When one buys a brand new car, chances are they'll spend quite a bit of money. A new car is obviously going to be more expensive than a used or certified pre-owned car. However, you do get a car with zero miles on it and oftentimes you'll also get a warranty.
Buying a used car is generally the cheapest choice. However, you are going to be sacrificing potential quality for a lower price. For example, if you were to find a car that you'd been eyeing for years and purchased it from an individual, there is absolutely no guarantee that the car will continue to be reliable once you're off the seller's lot. There is always a chance that car will work for many years, but it's a gamble.
Buying a certified pre-owned car give you the best of both worlds. You won't have to spend the large amounts of money that you would on a new car and you don't have as much of a gamble as with a used car. A certified pre-owned car will oftentimes be a little bit more expensive than a regular secondhand car, but warranties are often included in such cars. An official has to inspect every car that is labelled as a certified pre-owned. In effect, you're paying more money in hope that the official who inspected your car knows what (s)he's doing.
There are brands that you may be partial towards due to word of mouth or friend's recommendations, leading you to a certain manufacturer of car. Try to remain impartial when you go out to purchase a pre-owned car! With a proper certification, you can be pretty much guaranteed that your car will work. Oftentimes the seller will also offer an extended warranty for just a bit of extra money, so you can be extra sure that your car will run. If it doesn't, all you have to do is take it to a shop and get it fixed without spending any money!
All in all, a pre-owned car gives you the best of both worlds. You're going to have a reliable car at a great price.
